Calvin Acrobatics and Tumbling Celebrates Senior Night Against Trine

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Today the Calvin acrobatics and tumbling team celebrated senior night in its final home meet of the season against the Thunder of Trine University. As part of the evening's festivities, the Knights took time to honor senior Rebecca-Helen Prince (Auburn, Ca./Home School) and thank her for all she has done to help grow the acrobatics and tumbling program.

Up first, the Knights competed in the compulsory event which included acro, pyramid, toss, and tumbling heats. Calvin had a start value of 32.00 and received a final score of 17.40 with their highest score of 5.90 coming in the pyramid heat. Trine received a final score of 30.150.

In the acro event the Knights had a start value of 25.15 and received a score of 19.950 while the Thunder had a start value of 29.55 and finished with a score of 21.250.

In the last event before halftime, Calvin competed in the pyramid event where they had a start value of 30.0 and received a score of 23.700. Up next, the Knights participated in the tumbling event, which consisted of a duo pass, a trio pass, a quad pass, an aerial pass, a six-element pass, and an open pass. Calvin had a start value of 30.1 and finished with a score of 23.250 with their best performance of 8.275 coming from freshman Anna Mae Barber (Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc) in the aerial heat. Junior Eila Yee (Livonia, Mich./Livonia Stevenson) competed in the six-element heat and got a score of 6.935 while Barber and Yee recorded a 6.050 in the duo heat. Trine had a start value of 48.20 and received a score of 41.350.

Normally, both teams would compete in the team event as their final event of the meet. However, the Knights did not have enough athletes to compete, so they had to scratch out of the event. The Thunder entered the team event with a start value of 92.42 and received a score of 66.920.

At the end of the competition, the Knights fell to the Thunder with a score of 101.400 to 210.570.

COACHES COMMENTS: "The team and I couldn't be prouder of our progress this year," said head coach Tiffani Lincoln. "We've pushed on so much and we're about to push it further. We're looking forward to competing at East Texas Baptist University, April 9 through the 11th for the Division 3 tournament championship."

UP NEXT: The Knights will be back in action when they travel to Marshall, Texas to compete in the NCATA DIII Tournament from Thursday, April 9th through Saturday, April 11th.
