Calvin Acrobatics & Tumbling Hosts Adrian College in Season Opener

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Today the Calvin acrobatics and tumbling team kicked off its 2026 season when it welcomed the Bulldogs of Adrian to Van Noord Arena for a dual meet.
 
Up first, the Knights competed in the compulsory event which included acro, pyramid, toss, and tumbling heats. Calvin had a start value of 34.00 and received a final score of 13.30 with their highest score of 4.70 coming in the pyramid heat. Adrian had a start value of 26.00 and received a final score of 19.50.
 
In the acro event Calvin had a start value of 25.00 and received a score of 17.90 while the Bulldogs had a start value of 24.75 and finished with a 21.050.
 
In the final event before halftime, the Knights competed in the pyramid event where they had a start value of 26.90 and received a score of 21.850. Their highest score came in the inversion heat where they posted a score of 8.40. Adrian had a start value of 27.50 and received a 24.95. After three events, the Knights trailed the Bulldogs with a score of 52.95 to 65.50. 
 
The evening continued when the teams competed in the toss event to start the second half. Calvin had a start value of 26.00 and received a score of 18.90 while Adrian had a start value of 25.90 and received a score of 23.00.
 
Up next, the Knights participated in the tumbling event, which consisted of a duo pass, a trio pass, a quad pass, an aerial pass, a six-element pass, and an open pass. Calvin had a start value of 29.85 and finished with a score of 26.55 with their best score of 8.325 coming from freshman Anna Mae Barber (Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc) in the aerial pass. Junior Eila Yee (Livonia, Mich./Livonia Stevenson) competed in the six-element pass and got a score of 6.75 while sophomore Erin Ledkins (Marne, Mich./Kenowa Hills) recorded a 6.375 in the open pass. Adrian had a start value of 37.00 and received a score of 26.55. 
 
Up next, the teams would normally move into the team event, however neither team had enough athletes to compete so the meet came to a conclusion. 
 
At the end of competition, the Knights fell to the Bulldogs with a score 118.70-98.40.
 
COACHES COMMENTS: "I was very proud of the hard work and dedication that we brought out tonight for the home opener," said head coach Tiffani Lincoln. "We had some things that we did well and we have some things that we need to improve. We're looking forward to getting back to work and preparing for the next meet."
 
UP NEXT: The Knights will be back in action on Saturday, March 7th when they travel to Buffalo, N.Y. to take on Buffalo State at 12 PM.
