Calvin University sophomore back
Jake Ziolo was named MIAA Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
Ziolo (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Jerome) won the honor after helping the Knights at both ends of the pitch in a pair of wins over Alma College (4-0) and DePauw University (3-1).
Along with performing his defensive responsibilities on the left side, Ziolo added two goals and one assist on the week, including the game-winning goal from just inside the 18-yard box in the 87th minute of Saturday's 3-1 Homecoming win over DePauw.
The goal was Ziolo's second of the season and was part of a three-goal burst for the Knights over the final nine minutes to push their winning streak to seven.
The 7-1 Calvin men's soccer team will return to action on Wednesday, October 1, when it travels to Lake Forest College (Ill.) for a match scheduled to start at 4:30 PM (CT).
