GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Calvin women's swimming and diving team claimed a 227-68 dual meet victory over Wheaton Saturday afternoon inside the Venema Aquatic Center.
The Knights are now 4-1 in dual meet action this fall.
Senior
Megan Pankratz (Palatine, Il./William Fremd HS) was a double-winner, taking first place in the 1000 freestyle (11:07.68) and 500 freestyle (5:29.75).
Senior
Maggie Farrell (Portage, Mich./Portage Central HS) won the 50 freestyle (23.39) and 100 butterfly (55.24).
Sophomore
Emma Merkel (Wyoming, Mich./Grandville HS) took the win in the 200 IM (2:10.20) and 100 freestyle (52.88).
Freshman
Gracie Ganger (Tipp City, Oh./Tippercanoe) won the 100 breaststroke (1:08.33) and 200 breaststroke (2:2.08).
Junior
Madi McNearney (Riverside, Mo./Park Hill South HS) won the 200 backstroke (2:07.08).
Senior Kiah Hemingous (Midland, Mich./Midland HS) was the winner on the one-meter (182.93) and three-meter (188.40) diving boards.
Calvin's 200 medley relay team of Merkel, senior Syndey Sonday (Portage, Mich./Portage Central HS), Farrell and Bengelink won in a time of 1:45.46. Its 400 freestyle relay team of Farrell, Bengelink, freshman
Maria Heeres (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian HS) and Sonday cruised to a winning time of 3:24.28.
COACHES COMMENT: "Probably closed out our best fall competition schedule, maybe ever," said Calvin head swim coach
Dan Gelderloos. "We continue to set personal best and swim very motivated. We are looking forward to our Winter Invitational in December."
