INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Calvin women's swimming and diving team competed in day three of the NCAA III Championships Friday at the IU Natatorium.
Calvin opened competition by swimming in the prelims of the 200 medley relay. The Calvin relay team of junior
Emma Merkel (Grandville, Mich./Grandville HS), junior
Elise Bajwa (Bethesda, Md./Brookewood School), senior
Madi McNearney (Riverside, Mo./Park Hill South) and senior
Meghan Bengelink (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian HS) took 21
st in 1:44.13.
Merkel then placed 40
th in the 100 backstroke in a time of 57.06.
Bajwa placed 32
nd in the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:04.78.
Calvin will now turn its attention to Saturday. Sophomore
Zoe Poe (Bridgeville, Pa./South Fayette Twp.) will swim in the 1650 freestyle. Merkel will swim in the 200 backstroke. Bajwa will swim in the 200 breaststroke. The Calvin team of Merkel, sophomore
Ella Andrews (Carmel, Ind./Heritage Christian School), senior
Elyse Radawski (Jenison, Mich./Jenison HS) and Bengelink will also swim in the 400 freestyle relay.
