Calvin Women's Swimming and Diving Completes Day Two of NCAA III Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Calvin concluded its second day of competition at the NCAA III Swimming and Diving Championships at the IU Natatorium.

Calvin opened the day with the prelims of the 200 freestyle as junior Emma Merkel (Grandville, Mich./Grandville HS) took 23rd in a time of 1:51.82.

The Knights then competed in the 200 freestyle relay prelims with the quartet of sophomore Ella Andrews (Carmel, Ind./Heritage Christian HS), senior Elyse Radawski (Jenison, Mich./Jenison HS), junior Elise Bajwa (Bethesda, Md./Brookewood School) and senior Meghan Bengelink (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian HS) took 20th in 1:34.80.

Calvin will now prepare for a busy Friday with Bajwa set to compete in the 100 breaststroke, senior Madi McNearney, Bajwa, Radawski and Bengelink will compete in the 200 medley relay.

COACHES COMMENT: "We are looking forward to tomorrow," said Calvin head swim coach Dan Gelderloos. "We have a chance to get on the board and make some moves. There are opportunities out there in front of us."

NEXT UP: Friday's prelims are set for 10 a.m. with the championship finals set for 6 p.m.
