The Calvin women's swimming and diving team had another record-breaking night of performances on day three of the MIAA Championships.
Junior
Maggie Farrell (Portage, Mich./Portage Northern HS) opened the night with a win and a pair of records as she captured the 100 butterfly with a time of 54.88. The time broke her own school record of 54.94 set earlier this season and shattered the MIAA record of 56.15 set by Sage Gettings of Albion in 2021. Â Farrell's time is good for seventh on the NCAA III performance list. Junior
Natalie Fisher (Hudsonville, Mich./Hudsonville HS) took seventh in a time of 59.29 to add points to the event for the Knights. The win was the second of the meet for Farrell as she claimed the 50 freestyle title the night before.
Calvin added a second school record in the final event of the evening – the 200 medley relay as the team of junior

Sydney Sonday (Portage, Mich./Portage Central HS) clocked in with a time of 1:43.59, breaking the previous record of 1:44.00 set earlier this season. The time was good for second place in the race and ranks 11
th nationally.
Gable collected her second win of the meet on Friday, winning the 200 freestyle in a season-best time of 1:50.57 that ranks in the top 15 nationally. On Thursday, Gable had captured the 500 freestyle crown. She was part of a plethora of Calvin scorers in the championship final as senior
Kara Bolger (Ada, Mich./Forest Hills Central HS) was fifth (1:57.69), freshman
Kristin Winkle (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) sixth (1:58.29) and freshman
Meghan Bengelink (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian HS) eighth (1:59.80).
Calvin went 3-5-6 in the 100 breaststroke with Thier taking third with a season-best time of 1:05.28 with Sonday placing fifth (1:07.88) and freshman
Elyse Radawski (Jenison, Mich./Jenison HS) taking sixth (1:09.14).
In the 400 IM, sophomore Abigal Merz (Flint, Mich./Powers Catholic HS) took fourth (4:41.57) with freshman
Madilyn McNearney (Riverside, Mo./Park Hill South HS) seventh (4:49.10).
The Knights also picked up points in the 100 backstroke. Senior
Hannah Brown (Palmyra, Va./Home School) won the consolation final of the 100 backstroke (1:00.32) while junior
Sadie Norman (Fulton, Il./Fulton HS) was fifth (58.32) and senior
Claire Sytsma (Ada, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) sixth (58.56).
Sophomore Kia Heminghous (Midland, Mich./Midland HS) had her best performance of the meet, placing fifth on the three-meter diving board with a score of 380.60 points.
As a team, Calvin is in second place in the team standings with 601.5 points with Hope in first with 834 points.Â
COACHES COMMENT: "I'm really proud of our team," said Calvin head swim coach
Dan Gelderloos. "We are coming up with our best performance of the season and competing with great enthusiasm and togetherness. To keep breaking records and putting big marks on the board is awesome."
NEXT UP: Calvin will compete on the final day of competition on Saturday with prelims set for 10 a.m. and finals set for 5 p.m.
