The Calvin women's swimming and diving team had another banner set of performances on Saturday at the Calvin Winter Invitational.
In the 200 backstroke, junior
Isabella Gable (Greenville, Oh./Arcanum-Butler HS) had a season-best and NCAA III B' cut qualifying time of 2:02.98 that ranks her 17
th on the national list.
In the 100 freestyle, junior
Maggie Farrell (Portage, Mich./Portage Central HS) had a career-best time of 51.79 that ranks her 25
th on the national list. Sophomore
Sydney Sonday (Portage, Mich./Portage Central HS) had a season-best time of 52.28 that was good for 10
th place in the race.
In the 200 breaststroke, sophomore
Haley Thier (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Prep) was eighth (2:27.62) while freshman
Elyse Radawski (Jenison, Mich./Jenison HS) was 12
th (2:30.35).
Calvin's 400 freestyle relay team of Gable, Farrell, Sonday and senior
Hannah Brown (Palmyra, Va./Home School) had a season-best and NCAA III B' cut time of 3:28.86 that ranks seventh on the national list.
Sophomore
Megan Pankratz (Palatine, Il./William Fremd HS) had Calvin's best performance in the 1650 freestyle, placing 16
th with a season-best time of 18:25.17.
Senior
Rebecca DiCosola (Lisle, Il./Home School) was 16
th on the three-meter diving board (263.00).
As a team, Calvin finished fourth in a field of Division II and Division III teams with 942.5 points.
COACHES COMMENT: "We have a group of upperclassmen that are really leading this team, " said Calvin head swim coach
Dan Gelderloos. "The spirit of this team is very good and that is translating to the results in the pool. We are excited about what this group was able to do this weekend and for what lies ahead for this this year."
