WHEATON, Il. – Calvin recorded a 148-109 dual meet victory over Wheaton College Saturday afternoon.
Ranked 22nd nationally, the Knights are now 2-2 in dual meet competition.
Out of the gate the Calvin 200 medley relay picked up a win with junior Claire Sytsma (Ada, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS), freshman Haley Thier (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Prep), senior Valerie Edewaard (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian HS) and junior Hannah Brown (Palmyra, Va./Home School) winning in a time of 1:50.10
Thier was a double-winner, taking first place in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.07) and 200 breaststroke (2:25.60).
Sophomore Maggie Farrell (Portage, Mich./Portage Central HS) was also a double-winner, taking home a win in the 200 butterfly (2:12.88) and 100 freestyle (54.46).
Sytsma was also a double-winner, taking home the gold medal in the 200 backstroke (2:15.45) and 100 backstroke (1:00.45).
Sophomore Lynda Steen (Schaumburg, Il./Schaumburg HS) was the winner in the 1,000 freestyle, clocking in with a time of 11:20.61.
Calvin will now break until December 2 when it opens competition hosting its own three-day Calvin Winter Invitational.
