GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Calvin picked up its first dual meet win of the season, defeating Kalamazoo 162-75 Friday evening inside the Venema Aquatic Center.
Calvin's 200 medley relay team of sophomore Sadie Norman (Fulton, Il./Fulton HS), senior Samantha Sonday (Portage, Mich./Portage Central HS), junior Lydia Walls (Warren, Oh./Warren G. Harding HS) and senior Anna Weber (North Royalton, Oh./North Royalton HS) cruised to a win in a time of 1:54.36.
Senior Valerie Edewaard (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian HS) won the 1,000 freestyle in a time of 11:26.97.
Freshman Abigal Merz (Flint, Mich./Powers Catholic HS) won the 200 freestyle in 2:04.36 and the 100 butterfly in 1:01.98.
Walls won the 50 free (25.23) while freshman Sydney Sonday (Portage, Mich./Portage Central HS) won the 200 IM (2:19.80).
Freshman Haley Thier (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Prep) won the 100 freestyle (55.30) while Norman won the 100 backstroke (1:03.06).
Junior Claire Sytsma (Ada, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) was the victor in the 500 freestyle (5:34.44).
Sophomore Abigal Morse (Jenison, Mich./Jenison HS) was the winner on the three-meter board (235.05) and one-meter board (251.60).
