GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The No. 24 women's swimming & diving team defeated No.13 Wheaton on Saturday afternoon, 161-137. The win improves the Knights to 6-1 on the year. Calvin won eight events on the day.
"This has to be one of the best dual meets I have been a part of," said head coach Dan Gelderloos. "Top to bottom, results, emotion, and teamwork were all on another level."
Freshman Anna Serino (Pinckey, Mich./Pinckey) continued her strong 2015-16 campaign, picking up the first victory of the day for the Knights in the 1000 freestyle. Serino recorded a first-place time of 11:02.45
Sophomore Abby VanHarn (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) finished in first place in the 200 freestyle at 1:56.03. VanHarn picked up a second victory in the 50 freestyle, taking first with a time of 24.53. VanHarn tallied her third victory of the day in the 100 freestyle at 53.61.
Senior Alayna Gallegos (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville) touched the wall first in the 200 butterfly, recording a time of 2:14.21.
Sophomore Nicole Langerak (Jenison, Mich./Jenison) owned the boards on Saturday, Langerak took first place on the 1-meter board at 253.19. She also took first on the 3-meter at 281.02.
The Knights finished the day taking the 400 free relay, the team of Anna Serino, senior Megan Schroder (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian), sophomore Rachel Mattson (Ann Arbor, Mich./Ann Arbor Huron) and Abby VanHarn took first at 3:38.32.
The Knights return to action on Friday as they host Wayne State.
