Calvin University women's volleyball senior Tryna Vander Zwaag reached the 1,000 career digs milestone on Saturday, September 19, in the Knights' match against Otterbein University.
 
Vander Zwaag (Hamilton, Mich./Holland Christian) reached the mark with a 17-dig effort against the Cardinals in a four-set defeat after helping the Knights to a pair of wins over SUNY Cortland and 16th-ranked UW-Whitewater on Friday, September 18.
 
After starting her four-year career as a setter and defensive specialist, Vander Zwaag has spent the last two seasons as the Knights' starting libero and earned MIAA Defensive Player of the Year and All-MIAA Second Team honors as a junior in 2025 as she helped the Knights to an MIAA Tournament championship and elite eight run in the NCAA III Tournament.
 
For her career, Vander Zwaag has 1,004 career digs with an average of 2.95 digs per set. This season, she is averaging a career-best 3.89 digs per set while helping the 15th-ranked Knights to an 8-2 start to the season. She has recorded at least 10 digs in eight of the team's 10 matches so far on the season with a season-high total of 22 in a five-set win over Colorado College on September 4, giving the Tigers their lone loss so far this season.
 
Vander Zwaag and the Knights will return to action on Friday, September 25, when they travel to Alma College for a non-conference match scheduled to start at 6:30 PM.
