Calvin University senior Rodrigo Alipio was named MIAA Men's Tennis Player of the Week on Monday.
 
Alipio (Santos, São Paulo, Brazil/COC Universitario) earned the honor for his performance at the Hope College Invitational Tournament over the weekend.
 
At the tournament, Alipio won the 'A' singles bracket with three straight wins, including a win over Aziz Madatov (11.18 UTR) from Spring Arbor 6-4 and 6-1 in the final.
 
Alipio also teamed with Felipe Sartori (Estr. Basiléia Colégio Giusto Zonzini) to win the consolation final in the 'A' doubles bracket.
 
This marks the eighth time in Alipio's career that he has won MIAA Player of the Week honors.
 
Calvin men's tennis will return to action on Friday, September 18, when it competes at Davenport University in an exhibition match.
