Two members of the Calvin University men's tennis program were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team on Tuesday.
Junior
Rodrigo Alipio (Santos, São Paulo, Brazil/COC Universitario) and sophomore
Caleb Bartels (Loch Lloyd, Mo./Kansas City Christian) each earned the honor from the CSC.
The two student-athletes won the honors after helping Calvin to an 8-9 season that included a 6-1 record in MIAA play that resulted in a second-place finish in the final conference standings.
To receive CSC Academic All-District accolades, individuals need to maintain a cumulative 3.50 grade point average (GPA) or higher, completed two full semesters at the institution and appeared in 70 percent of the current season's games contests.
Both players also advanced to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
Rodrigo Alipio
Alipio earned his second straight CSC Academic All-District honor following another strong season atop the Calvin singles line-up. In 16 singles contests, all of which came in the top spot in the line-up, Alipio recorded an 11-5 record that included a 6-1 singles record in MIAA play that led to him being named All-MIAA First Team for the second straight season. Alipio also played in the one-doubles spot throughout the season with a 9-8 record.
A junior graphic design major with a 3.55 career GPA, Alipio is also a two-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll and five-time Calvin Dean's List honoree.
Caleb Bartels
Bartels earned CSC Academic All-District in his first season of eligibility as a sophomore in 2026. Playing almost exclusively out of the number-two spot in the singles line-up, Bartels finished the season with an 11-5 record that included a perfect 7-0 mark in MIAA play on the way to All-MIAA First Team honors. In doubles, Bartels went 9-8 on the season and 5-2 in league play.
An accounting major with a 4.0 career GPA, Bartels is also a one-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll and three-time Calvin Dean's List honoree.
