Calvin University junior Caden Kolanowski was named MIAA Defensive Player of the Week for football on Monday.
 
Kolanowski (Goodrich, Mich./Goodrich) won the award following the Knights 49-7 win over St. Norbert College in Saturday's home opener at Zuidema Field.
 
In the win, Kolanowski recorded one tackle and two interceptions that he returned for 57 yards to help lead a defensive effort that held the Green Knights to just five yards rushing (on 22 carries) and 195 total yards. The Calvin defense allowed only six first downs for St. Norbert on the day.
 
For the season, Kolanowski has seven total tackles and two interceptions.
 
Calvin football will return to action on Saturday, September 19, when it travels to Franklin College for a game scheduled to kick off at 1:30 PM.
