Calvin University junior
Hunter Hogan was named MIAA Offensive Player of the Week for football on Monday.
Â
Hogan (Ravenna, Mich./Ravenna) earned the honor for his performance in the Knights' 49-7 win over St. Norbert College on Saturday in Calvin's home opener.
Â
In the win, Hogan caught four passes for 102 yards and two scores while also rushing four times for 79 yards and two touchdowns to lead a Calvin offense that finished the game with a school-record 678 total yards (including 488 in the first half). Hogan scored on the Knights' first play from scrimmage on a 68-yard touchdown reception that set a new school record for the longest reception in program history.
Â
In the game, Hogan also went over the 1,000-yard milestone as both a rusher and a receiver, becoming the first Calvin player to accomplish that feat. He is also the first ever Calvin player to go over the 1,000-yard rushing milestone for his career.
Â
This is the second time Hogan has been named MIAA Football Offensive Player of the Week in his career.
Â
Calvin football will return to action on Saturday, September 19, when it travels to Franklin College for a game scheduled to kick off at 1:30 PM.
