Caleb Bartels Named MIAA Men’s Tennis Player of the Week

Calvin University sophomore Caleb Bartels was named MIAA Player of the Week for men's tennis on Monday.

Bartels (Loch Lloyd, Mo./Kansas City Christian) won the honor after a 2-0 week in singles to help the Knights to a 1-1 record.

In the lone MIAA contest of the week, Bartels won 6-4, 6-2 in two-singles to help the Knights to a 6-1 win at Trine University. He followed that by earning a 6-3, 6-2 win in one-singles at Lawrence Tech, a match where the Knights lost 4-3.

Bartels also won both doubles matches during the week, teaming with Tanner Warners (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) for 6-4 wins in the three-doubles spot in both matches.

With the two wins, Bartels has now won eight consecutive singles matches to lead a Calvin team that is 4-0 in MIAA play.

This week, the Knights will conclude the regular season with home matches against Adrian College (Wednesday, April 22) and Kalamazoo College (Saturday, April 25), as well as a road match at Alma College (Thursday, April 23).
