Daniel Rua has been named the Midwest Collegiate Volleyball Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
An outside hitter, Rua (Medellin, Colombia/Colegio Canadiense) had a big performance in a five-set win over Cornerstone University last Wednesday. In the win, Rua tallied a season-high 17 kills with a sizzling .389 hitting percentage. He tallied two service aces, four digs and one block assist as the Knights came from behind to defeat Cornerstone 25-21, 22-25, 14-25, 25-23, 15-12.
Rua has been a big part of Calvin's success this season, hitting at a .354 clip while averaging 2.66 kills-per-set. He also has 16 service aces on the season while averaging 1.04 digs-per-set.
Rua and the Calvin men's volleyball team are currently 15-2 overall and unbeaten in the MCVL with a 4-0 conference record. The Knights return to action next Tuesday when they host Calumet College of St. Joseph at 7 p.m. The Knights then host a crucial set of MCVL matches with Baldwin-Wallace (7 p.m.) coming to Van Noord Arena March 20 and Mount Union (1 p.m.) arriving for a March 21
st encounter.
