Alexander Minnehan was named MIAA Football Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday.

Minnehan (Lakeville, N.Y./Livonia Senior/Grand Valley State) earned the honor after Calvin's 88-6 win at Oberlin College in Saturday's season opener.

In the win, Minnehan returned a punt for a 59-yard touchdown in the third quarter, marking the first punt return for a touchdown in Calvin football program history.

Minnehan also contributed on the defensive side of the ball, recording two tackles from his spot in the secondary.

He is also the first Calvin football player to earn MIAA Player of the Week honors for offense, defense, or special teams in the program's two-year history.

Calvin football will return to action on Saturday, September 13, when it hosts Concordia University (Wis.) in the home opener at Calvin Soccer Stadium. Kick off is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
