Eight members of the Calvin University football team have received College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors. The eight individuals that have received all-district accolades include senior
Tate Dohm, juniors
Paul Bouma IV,
Caden Kolanowski,
Thomas Vaccaro and sophomores
Brayden Steinbacher,
Drake Irwin,
Hayden Slegers and
Luke Michmerhuizen. All eight are receiving CSC Academic All-District honors for the first time.
In order to receive CSC Academic All-District honors, individuals needed to be a sophomore or above in athletic eligibility standing, hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or above and appeared in at least 90 percent of the current season's games.
TATE DOHM (Petoskey, Mich./Petoskey HS)
Dohm recently completed his Calvin football career as a defensive back and special teams ace. He was the primary holder in all 10 of Calvin's games this fall. He threw for one successful two-point conversion. In the classroom, he is a secondary education major. He has been a consistent member of the Calvin Dean's List and was a member of the 2024-25 MIAA Academic Honor Roll.
PAUL BOUMA IV (Grandville, Mich./Calvin Christian HS)
Bouma IV has been with the Calvin football program for three years and recently completed his second season with the team. A tight end, he appeared in all 10 games for the Knights, making two catches for eight yards. On special teams, he had 31 yards of kick return yardage while also making one tackle. A business marketing major, he has been a regular member of the Calvin Dean's List. He was a member of the 2024-25 MIAA Academic Honor Roll.
CADEN KOLANOWSKI (Goodrich, Mich./Goodrich HS)
Kolanowski has been with the Calvin football program for three years. He also recently completed his second season with the team. A free safety, Kolanowski appeared and started in all 10 games for the Knights this fall, amassing 70 tackles including 31 solo stops. On special teams, he served as Calvin's primary punt returner, returning 10 punts for 89 yards. A kinesiology major, he has been a consistent member of the Calvin Dean's List. He was a member of the 2024-25 MIAA Academic Honor Roll.
THOMAS VACCARO (Franklin, Tenn./Christ Presbyterian)
Vaccaro recently completed his first year with the Calvin football program. A transfer from Samford University, he took over the reins as Calvin's starting quarterback this past fall. Vaccaro started in all 10 games for the Knights this fall, completing nearly 62 percent (177-286) of his passes for 17 touchdowns and 1,794 passing yards. He also rushed for 281 yards and three touchdowns. In the classroom, he is a Dean's List student majoring in history and education. He plans to start his master's degree at Calvin next year in education.
BRAYDENÂ STEINBACHER (Cedar Springs, Mich./Sparta HS)
Steinbacher recently completed his second year with the Calvin football program. He has been a two-year starter on the offensive line. He started in all 10 games for the Knights this fall, helping Calvin rush for 2,022 yards and 24 touchdowns while also helping protect a Calvin passing attack that threw for 1,942 yards and 19 touchdowns. Steinbacher has been a regular member of the Calvin Dean's List and was a member of the 2024-25 MIAA Academic Honor Roll. He is a Calvin nursing major.
DRAKE IRWIN (Rockford, Mich./Rockford HS)
Irwin just completed his second year with the Calvin football program. He served as Calvin's primary backup at quarterback as well as its lead punter this fall. As a punter, he punted 36 times with an average of 40.4 yards per punt. He had five punts over 50 yards and placed five punts inside the opponent's 20 yard line. At quarterback, he was 14 of 25 passing for 148 yards and a touchdown. He also had 16 rushes for 43 yards and one touchdown. In the classroom, Irwin is a finance major. He has been a consistent member of the Calvin Dean's List. He was also a member of the 2024-25 MIAA Academic Honor Roll.
HAYDEN SLEGERS (Ontario, Cali./Ontario Christian HS)
Slegers just completed his second year with the Calvin football program. He was part of Calvin's running backs room this fall. Slegers made an impact for the Knights, carrying the ball 49 times for 243 yards and three touchdowns. He averaged 5.0 yards a carry. In the classroom, Slegers is majoring in sports communication and ministry leadership. He has been a consistent member of the Calvin Dean's List. He was also a member of the 2024-25 MIAA Academic Honor Roll.
LUKE MICHMERHUIZEN (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian HS)
Michmerhuizen just completed his second year with the Calvin football program. A wide receiver, he has started in all 20 games of his collegiate career. This fall, he hauled in 57 catches for 618 yards and eight touchdowns. A highlight came in a September overtime win at Heidelberg as he snared a walk-off touchdown catch on a throw from Vaccaro. Through two years, he has 105 catches for 1,285 yards and 13 touchdowns. An engineering major, Michmerhuizen has been a three-time member of the Calvin Dean's List and was a member of the 2024-25 MIAA Academic Honor Roll. Â

Trent Figg, Calvin finished the 2025 football campaign with a remarkable 7-3 overall record in just its second season of competition. The Knights also finished 4-3 in the MIAA which was good for a fourth place conference finish. Calvin was picked to finish seventh in the MIAA preseason coaches' poll.
