GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Today the Calvin hosted their final home meet of the season when they welcomed the Thunder of Trine to Van Noord Arena.

In the first event of the evening, the Knights competed in the compulsory event which included acro, pyramid, toss, and tumbling heats. Calvin had a start value of 34.00 and received a final score of 23.80 with their highest score of 7.20 coming in the pyramid heat. Trine had a start value of 38.00 and received a score of 33.55.

In the acro event Calvin had a start value of 25.10 and received a score of 23.15 while the Thunder had a start value of 29.75 and finished with a 26.80.

In the final event before halftime, the Knights competed in the pyramid event where they had a start value of 27.50 and received a score of 24.80. Their highest score came in the open heat where they posted a score of 8.95. Trine had a start value of 30.00 in the pyramid event and received a 27.90. After three events, the Knights trail the Thunder with a score of 71.75 to 88.25.

The afternoon continued when the teams competed in the toss event to start the second half. Calvin had a start value of 25.90 and received a score of 23.85 while Trine had a start value of 27.40 and received a score of 26.00.

Up next, the Knights participated in the tumbling event, which consisted of a duo pass, a trio pass, a quad pass, an aerial pass, a six-element pass, and an open. Calvin had a start value of 48.05 and finished the event with a score of 41.175 with their best score of 8.35 coming from freshman
Jenna Wert (Saint Clair, Mich./Saint Clair) in the aerial pass. Freshman
Bethany Nakai (Calgary, Canada) scored a 8.00 in the six-element pass while freshman
Tatum DeSchutter (Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada/Nanaimo District) scored a 7.825 in the open pass. Adrian had a start value 45.10 and received a score of 36.80.

Finally, to close out competition both teams participated in the team event. Calvin had a start value of 74.14 and received a 53.92 while Trine had a start value of 92.39 and finished with a score of 75.64.Â

At the end of the day, despite falling to Trine 190.695 to 233.915, the Knights saw improvements as they posted their best final score of the season.

COACHES COMMENTS: "This was the best way to finish out the regular season for this team; at home, with an 11 point improvement, said head coach
Ellen Barker. "They earned every point. I'm very proud of our team and how dedicated they are to laying a great foundation for this program."
