Calvin University junior
Rodrigo Alipio was named MIAA Player of the Week for men's tennis on Monday.
Alipio (Santos, São Paulo, Brazil/COC Universitario) won the honor for his performance in a 5-2 defeat to Davenport University on Saturday at Gainey Athletic Complex.
In the 5-2 team defeat, Alipio contributed to both Calvin points. In doubles, he teamed with
Mário Neto (Boa Vista, Brazil/Reino) to win 6-4 in number-one doubles. Alipio would follow that with a three-set win in number-one singles thanks to a 10-8 tiebreaker win.
This marks the sixth time Alipio has been named MIAA Player of the Week for men's tennis in his career.
Calvin men's tennis will return to action this spring for both non-conference matches and the MIAA season.
