The Calvin University women's triathlon team received both team and individual academic honors from the College Triathlon Coaches Association (CTCA) this week.
Kathryn Gardner (Sarasota, Fla./Riverview) was named a Scholar All-American, while
Nadia Beran (Stevensville, Mich./Lakeshore),
Anika Bouwman (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian),
Rebekah Etherington (Brighton, Mich./Pickney Community) and
Brianna Timmer (Byron Center, Mich./Plymouth Christian) earned Scholar All-American Honorable Mention honors.
To be named a Scholar All-American, a student-athlete must finish their semester of competition with a 3.5 grade point average (GPA) or higher while also finishing inside the top 21 of their division at the National Championships. Honorable Mention athletes must have a 3.5 GPA or higher while finishing outside the top 21.
Calvin also earned Scholar All-American Team status thanks to having a team GPA of 3.2 or higher during the 2024 season.
Gardner earned Scholar All-America honors after taking second place among NCAA III competitors at the National Championships in November.
Timmer (24th place), Beran (33rd), Bouwman (41st) and Etherington (did not finish) finished outside the top 21 on the way to Honorable Mention status.
Calvin finished the 2024 National Championships meet in fifth place among NCAA III programs.
