GRAND RAPIDS - The Calvin University women's swim and dive team dropped its dual meet against Hope 162-81 at Venema Aquatic Center on Friday night.
Hope entered the meet ranked 12th in the NCAA Division III, while the Knights were ranked 19th in the most recent poll.
Here are some of the Knights' top finishers from the event:

Haley Thier (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Prep/Denison) won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:07.18. Thier also added a second-place finish in the 200 individual medley (2:12.34).
Elyse Radawski (Jenison, Mich./Jenison) finished just behind Thier in second place in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.84).

Maggie Farrell (Portage, Mich./Portage Central/Denison) won the 100 butterfly with a time of 56.66. She also took home a third-place finish in the 200 freestyle (1:57.37) in the individual events.

Sydney Sonday (Portage, Mich./Portage Central/KVCC) took second place in both the 50 freestyle (24.19) and 100 freestyle (53.46).
Hannah Brown (Palmyra, Va./Homeschool) followed in third place in the 50 freestyle (25.41), and
Meghan Bengelink (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian) took fourth in the 100 freestyle (55.00).

Isabella Gable (Greenville, Ohio/Arcanum-Butler/Tennessee/Lindenwood) finished second in the 500 freestyle (5:22.68) and third in the 200 individual medley (2:13.32).
Claire Sytsma (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) took second in the 100 backstroke (59.26), followed by
Sadie Norman (Fulton, Ill./Fulton) in fourth place (1:07.31) in that event.

Kristin Winkle (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) finished fourth in both the 200 freestyle (2:01.67) and 500 freestyle (5:29.29).
Megan Pankratz (Palatine, Ill./William Fremd) finished fourth in the 1000 freestyle (11:27.39).
*The 200 medley relay team of Sytsma, Thier, Farrell and Sonday finished second with a time of 1:46.87. The team of Gable, Bengelink, Winkle and Brown finished second in the 400 freestyle relay.
COACH'S COMMENT: "It's always great to have a rival," Calvin swimming and diving coach
Dan Gelderloos said. "It brings out the best in both teams, which is great to have at the end of the year. I'm proud of the way we competed, and looking forward to a couple weekends off before championship season."
NEXT UP: The Calvin swimming and diving team will return to action tomorrow (Saturday, January 28) when it hosts University of Chicago at 1:00 PM at Venema Aquatic Center.
