SAUGATUCK, Mich. – The Calvin women's team took fourth at the third and final round of the MIAA Spring AQ Tournament.

Saturday's tournament was held at the Clearbrook Golf Club and came one day after the four competing teams had slogged through heavy rains the afternoon before.

Calvin posted a fourth place team score of 347 strokes on Saturday and finished fourth in the final overall team standings.

Saint Mary's took first place on Saturday and first in the final team standings over the course of the 54-hole tournament. As winner, Saint Mary's receives an automatic bid to the NCAA III Championships next month.

Sophomore Chandler Sjoerdsma (Riverside, Ca./Martin Luther King HS) led Calvin with a round of 83 that tied her for ninth place individually on Saturday.

Senior Emma Dykhouse (Byron Center, Mich./South Christian HS) had a round of 87 with junior Jericha Scharphorn (Hudsonville, Mich./Hudsonville HS) firing a round of 88 and senior Kaylee Hirschman (Grand Ledge, Mich./Grand Ledge HS) recording a round of 89 and sophomore Georgie Scholtens (Grandville, Mich./Calvin Christian HS) a round of 92.

COACHES COMMENT: "I am very thankful for the four-year contributions of Kayle Hirschman and Emma Dykhouse," said Calvin head women's golf coach Jerry Bergsma in wrapping up the season. "They have been an integral part of the most successful stretch in the history of Calvin women's golf. Our team will have some work to do to fill their shoes but we had evidence throughout the year of our youngers players ready to step up and lead us in the next chapter of Calvin women's golf."
