SAUGATUCK, Mich. – The Calvin women's golf team competed at the second MIAA Spring AQ Qualifier of the Year on Friday. The Knights posted a third place team score of 339 strokes. The Knights move into third place in the cumulative team standings. Saint Mary's took first place on Friday and continues to lead the overall team standings with Hope second, Calvin third and Adrian fourth.
The MIAA Spring AQ Tournament is a 54-hole cumulative round tournament with the final winner received an automatic bid to the NCAA III Championships in May.
Friday's round was hosted by Hope at the Clearbrook Golf Club.
Sophomore Chandler Sjoerdsma (Riverside, Ca./Martin Luther King HS) took fifth place individually with a round of 82.
Senior Kaylee Hirschman (Grand Ledge, Mich./Grand Ledge HS) was right behind with an 83 that had her tied for sixth place.
Senior Emma Dykhouse (Byron Center, Mich./South Christian HS) and sophomore Georgie Scholtens (Grandville, Mich./Calvin Christian HS) had rounds of 87 to tie for 13th place. Junior Jerica Scharphorn (Hudsonville, Mich./Hudsonville HS) had a round of 90 to tie for 18th.
The final MIAA Spring AQ Tournament round is set for 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Clearbrook Golf Club.
