GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Calvin picked up a 9-0 conference victory over Olivet Saturday inside the Huizenga Tennis and Track Center.
The Knights improve to 9-5 overall and to 2-1 in the MIAA with the victory.
Calvin got things rolling by sweeping the three doubles points.
Sophomores Isaac Jeong (Novi, Mich./Novi HS) and Adam Zentner (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston HS) opened the match by winning 8-5 at No. 1 doubles.
Freshman Stuart Johnston (Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc HS) and sophomore Jared Berghorst (Hudsonville, Mich./Hudsonville HS) triumphed 8-0 at No. 2 doubles. Sophomore Harrison Sindelar (Westfield, Ind./Westfield HS) and sophomore Jace DeShetler (Grand Rapids, Mich./Northpointe Christian HS) were 8-1 winners at No. 3 doubles.
In singles action, Sindelaar dropped Gabe Hand 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 singles.
Zentner rolled to a 6-3, 6-1 win over Sam Vondra at No. 2 singles.
Johnston defeated Colin Moore 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. Sophomore Joseph Hong (Grand Rapids, Mich./South Christian HS) piled up a 6-1, 6-1 win over Trevor Lewis at No. 4 singles.
Freshman Grant Banisik defeated Kjeil Dickinson 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 singles. Sophomore Nate Morren (Garden City, Ks./Garden City HS) closed the match out with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles.
