KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Calvin opened its conference campaign with an 8-1 loss at nationally-ranked Kalamazoo College on Tuesday afternoon.
The Knights dip to 7-5 overall and 0-1 in the MIAA. Ranked 28th nationally, Kalamazoo improves to 4-5 overall and 1-0 in the MIAA.
Kalamazoo opened the match by taking all three doubles points. Calvin put up a strong fight at No. 3 doubles with sophomore Harrison Sindelar (Westfield, Ind./Westfield HS) and sophomore Nate Morren (Garden City, Ks./Garden City HS) dropping a tough 8-7 decision, falling 7-5 in the tiebreaker.
In singles, freshman Grant Banisik (St. Joseph, Mich.) claimed a 6-1, 5-7, 10-6 win at No. 6 singles over Tieran Rafferty.
