LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Calvin women's golf team won the Webber University Invitational on Wednesday afternoon.
The Knights finished with a team score of 344 strokes with Webber coming in at 372.
Wednesday's competition was held at the Lake Wales Country Club.
Senior Kaylee Hirschman (Grand Ledge, Mich./Grand Ledge HS) led the way with a round of 84 while sophomore Georgie Scholtens (Grandville, Mich./Calvin Christian HS) was right behind with a round of 85.
Sophomore Chandler Sjoerdsma (Riverside, Ca./Martin Luther King HS) had a solid day with an 86. Senior Emma Dykhouse (Byron Center, Mich./South Christian HS) came through with a round of 89. Sophomore Brandi Statema (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian HS) had a round of 92.
Freshman Audrey Howard (Olathe, Ks./Shawnee Mission-Bishop Miege HS) recorded a round of 104. Sophomore Anna Johnson (Holt, Mich./Holt HS) and Elizabeth Wichers (Puyallup, Wash./Cascade Christian HS) also had rounds of 112.
Hannah Revell of Webber was the medalist on the day with a round of 77.
COACHES COMMENT: "It was great to be back out on the course after a few months layoff and practicing indoors," said Calvin head women's golf coach Jerry Bergsma. "We had big contributions today from Kaylee and Georgie today but it was an important opportunity for the whole group to get out and play tournament golf again."
