The Calvin Men's tennis team picked up their first win of the spring season by downing the Red Hawks of Ripon College 8-1 on Friday evening.
Sophomore Adam Zentner and Sophomore Isaac Jeong picked up the first by taking down Calvin Battle and Marcus Austin 8-3 at No. 1 doubles. Freshman Stuart Johnston and Sophomore Jared Berghorst picked up an 8-2 win over Ty Rondestvedt and Jaden Francis at No. 2 doubles.
At the No. 3 doubles, Sophomore Harrison Sindelar and Sophomore Jace Deshetler took down Preston Wurtz and Eugene Pliska 8-1.
In singles play, Sindelar picked up a 6-3,6-3 win over Battle in No. 1 singles. Zentner won 6-0, 6-1 over Wurtz at No. 2 singles. Johnson gained another win for the Knights by winning 6-3, 6-3 over Austin at No. 3 singes. Sophomore Joseph Hong fell to Rondestvedt 5-7, 6-4, 6-1 in the No. 4 singles spot.
Berghost topped Francis 6-1,6-1 in the No. 5 singles spot. Deshetler took down Pliska in the No. 6 singles with a score of 6-0,6-0 to wrap up the evening.
