BRISTOL, Wisc. - The Calvin women's golf team completed a strong two-day performance at the Battle on the Border Challenge hosted by Carthage College Saturday at the Bristol Oaks Golf Club.
Calvin recorded a Saturday team score of 338 strokes. The Knights finished the two-day, 36-hole weekend tournament with a final score of 688 (330-338) to finish fourth in the final field of 15 teams.
Sophomore Chandler Sjoerdsma (Riverside, Ca./Martin Luther King HS) led Calvin with a final tournament score of 161 strokes (76-85). Sjoerdsma finished ninth in the final individual standings.
Senior Emma Dykhouse (Byron Center, Mich./South Christian HS) was close behind with a final tournament score of 162 strokes (80-82). Dykhouse finished tied for 10th in the final individual standings.
Senior Kaylee Hirschman (Grand Ledge, Mich./Grand Ledge HS) put together rounds of 83 and 84 for a final tournament score of 167 to finish 20th in the final standings.
Junior Jericha Sharphorn (Hudsonville, Mich./Hudsonville HS) came through with a round of 87 on Saturday after shooting 93 on Friday for a final tournament total of 180. Sophomore Georgie Scholtens (Grandville, Mich./Calvin Christian HS) also moved up on Saturday shooting 89 after a round of 91 on Friday to finish tied with Scharphorn with a tournament total of 180.
Host Carthage took first place in the final team standings with a score of 609 strokes. Calvin finished just four strokes behind defending MIAA champion Saint Mary's which came up with a final tournament score of 664 strokes.
NEXT UP: Calvin returns to action next Friday and Saturday, competing at the Olivet Invitational in Marshall, Michigan.
