The Calvin men's tennis team competed in a weekend tournament on the Calvin campus with Aquinas and Cornerstone.
In singles action, sophomore Isaac Jeong (Novi, Mich./Novi HS) defeated John Elizardo of Aquinas 7-5, 6-2. Sophomore Joseph Hong (Grand Rapids, Mich./South Christian HS) downed Brendan Bremer of Cornerstone 6-3, 6-0.
Freshman Stuart Johnson picked up a 6-1, 6-3 win over Jaron Dykstra of Cornerstone. Freshman Nate Moren defeated Matthew Wilde of Cornerstone 6-3, 6-2.
Sophomore Adam Zentner (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston HS) defeated Elizardo 6-1, 4-6, 11-9. Sophomore Jared Berghorst (Hudsonville, Mich./Hudsonville HS) blew by Bremer 6-0, 6-2 while sophomore Jace DeShetler (Grand Rapids, Mich./Northpointe Christian HS) powered his way to a 6-1, 6-2 win over Jaron Dykstra of Cornerstone.
Freshman Grant Banasik also defeated Wilde 6-2, 6-1.
In doubles play, DeShetler and sophomore Harrison Sindelar (Westfield, Ind./Westfield HS) sparkled in an 8-1 win over Osborn and Dykstra of Cornerstone.
DeShetler and Hong then stepped up to deliver a big 8-1 win over Bremer and Wilde of Cornerstone.
Hong and Banasik then defeated Bremer and Wilde 8-1.
