GRAND RAPDIS, Mich. – The Calvin University men's tennis team remains unbeaten in MIAA play following a 7-0 sweep of The University of Olivet on Wednesday at Strikwerda Tennis Center.
Calvin (4-6, 2-0 MIAA) topped Olivet (0-9, 0-2 MIAA) by sweeping all three doubles matches and then won the six singles contests in straight sets.
In doubles, the Knights earned the point as the one-doubles team of
Rodrigo Alipio (Santos, São Paulo, Brazil/COC Universitario) and Mario Neto (Boa Vista, Brazil/Reino) won 6-1, and both the two-doubles team of
Felipe Sartori (Estr. Basiléia/Colégio Giusto Zonzini) and
Diego Castellanos (Tarija, Bolivia/La Salle Tarija) and three-doubles team of
Tanner Warners (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) and
Caleb Bartels (Loch Lloyd, Mo./Kansas City Christian) won 6-0.
In singles, Sartori (6-0, 6-2), Bartels (6-0, 6-0), Sartori (6-0, 6-1), Castellanos (6-4, 6-0), Neto (6-1, 6-1) and
Emmanuel Henao (Medellin, Columbia/Escuela Normal Superior "La Merced") (6-2, 6-4) won in straight sets to secure the sweep.
