Calvin Men's Tennis Beaten by Bethel

LANSING, Mich. - Calvin opened play at the Capitol City Classic with a 4-3 loss to Bethel College of Indiana Friday afternoon. The Pilots split the six singles flights but took the all-important doubles point to seal the win.

In singles play, Jesse McCurdy (Anderson, Ind./Lapel) claimed a thrilling 6-1, 6-7, 10-8 win over Evan Roth at No. 2 singles.

Senior Daniel Huan (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) was a 6-2, 6-1 winner over Wes Troyer at No. 3 singles. Freshman Harrison Sindelar (Westfield, Ind./Westfield HS) was a 2-6, 6-2, 10-8 winner at No. 4 singles.

In doubles action, senior Max Stallings (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich./North HS) and Huan were 6-1 winners at No. 1 doubles but Bethel took the remaining two flights including a 7-6 win at No. 3 doubles.

Calvin continues action at the tournament this weekend.
