HOLLAND, Mich. – The Calvin men' s Tennis team fell to Hope College 8-1 on Tuesday evening at Etheridge Tennis Complex.
Starting with doubles competition, the team of Mark VanderStoep and Danny Kroeze defeated senior Jose Larrea (Caracas, Venezuela / U.E. Colegio San Jose)and sophomore Max Stallings (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich. / North)8-2 at No. 1.
At No. 2, the duo of Timothy Roeand Michael Kiley defeated freshman Konner Shapiro (Bloomington, IN. / Bloomington South)and junior Kyrus Tsai (Glenview, Ill. / Glenbrook South) 8-2.
Closing out doubles play with an 8-7 win was the No. 3 team of senior Jason Wolters (Hudsonville, Mich. / Unity Christian) and freshman Brandon Johnson (Midland, Mich. / Midland High School) over David Bacon and Carter Smiley.
Moving on to singles, Mark VanderStoep defeated Jose Larrea 6-4, 6-1 at No. 1. At No. 2, Timothy Roe defeated Jason Wolters 6-2, 6-3.
Michael Kiley defeated Max Stallings 6-1, 6-4 at No. 3 singles. At No. 4, Danny Kroeze defeated Owen Brookhouse 6-0, 6-0.
Christian Rhoades defeated Cobe Benzel 6-2, 6-3 ast No. 5 singles. Justin Folkert defeated Charlie Fahr 6-4, 6-1 at No. 6.
The Knights return to action on Thursday as they head to Indiana to take on Bethel at 3 p.m.
