KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Calvin men's tennis team fell to the Kalamazoo Hornets on Tuesday afternoon, 9-0. The Hornets are ranked 37th in the most recent ITA rankings. Calvin moves to 9-5 on the year and 2-3 in the MIAA. The Hornets are now 13-4 overall and 5-0 in MIAA play.
"Today was a tough battle," said head coach John Ross. "We have the weekend off and we have to use that to get ready for a very important week. We have two really important matches next week that we need to do well in."
The Hornets started the day taking all three doubles points.
Freshman Andrew Airgood and freshman Jason Wolters put up a fight at No. 2 doubles, but fell, 8-6.
Kalamazoo would go on to sweep the singles completion to win 9-0.
The Knights return to action on Monday for the final home match of the year. The Knights will host the Alma Scots in a key MIAA battle.
