Box Score 2 GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Calvin baseball team fell to Adrian twice on Tuesday afternoon. The Bulldogs won game one 6-4 and the second game 24-8. Calvin falls to 7-16 on the year ans 3-9 in MIAA play.
Adrian struck first on Tuesday with three runs in the first inning and added a run in the third inning.
Senior Jordan VanderWall got Calvin on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third inning with a single through the right side of the infield, scoring freshman Jonathan Keane. Junior Colton Wolfe would then single through the left side of the infield to score freshman Steven Dogger.
Sophomore Ryan Stewart tied the game in the fourth inning with a homerun over the left-field fence.
Adrian would break the tie with two runs in the sixth inning.
Senior Kyle Wasserberger went 3.1 innings on Tuesday. He recorded one strikeout.
Jordan VanderWall had a game-high three hits.
The Bulldog bats went wild in game two, taking an early 4-0 lead in the first inning.
Sophomore Nick Steiginga scored Jordan VanderWall on a sacrifice fly in the first inning.
Adrian would score four more runs before the Knights scored in the bottom of the third inning. Junior Mike Kempton doubled to centerfield to score Nick Steiginga and Ryan Stewart.
The Bulldogs broke the game open with a 16-0 run.
In the sixth inning, Jonathan Keane scored on a wild pitch. Sophomore Nate DeZwaan singled through the right side of the infield to score Mike Kempton and Jonathan Keane. Jordan VanderWall would score Steven Dogger.
The final run of game would be scored in the bottom of the seventh inning when Jordan VanderWall singled to second base, scoring Mike Kempton.
The game was called after the eighth inning due to darkness.
Jordan VanderWall, Nick Steiginga and Mike Kempton all recorded two hits.
Sophomore Schuyler Van Tol had a strong outing on the mound, throwing two scoreless innings with three strikeouts.
