Men's Tennis Falls to Kalamazoo in First Place MIAA Showdown

The visiting Kalamazoo College Hornets defeated Calvin 8-1 in a conference dual match Thursday afternoon at the Strikwerda Tennis Courts.

Both teams came into the match with undefeated league records. Kalamazoo is now 11-5 overall and 4-0 in the MIAA while Calvin falls into a tie for second place in the MIAA standings with Adrian at 2-1 in conference play. The Knights are 6-6 overall.

Calvin gained its lone point in doubles play as senior Tom Griffin and junior Matt Buesing combined for an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles.

Kalamazoo then swept all six singles flights. Sophomore Taylor Asfour did take Eric DeWitt of Kalamazoo to three sets before falling 6-3, 4-6, 10-6.

Calvin is back in action on Saturday when it hosts Trine at 2 p.m.
