ORLANDO, FL - The Calvin men's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision to regionally-ranked Carthage College Thursday morning.
Despite the 9-0 outcome, the Knights put up a strong fight against the Red Men, taking the top two singles flights to three sets and the number-three doubles flight to a 9-8 decision that was won in a tiebreaker. Calvin's number three doubles team included Tom Griffin and Stephen Healy.
At one singles, senior Loukas Peterson dropped a tough 6-4, 3-6, 10-7 match. At two singles, Griffin suffered a hard-fought 6-4, 4-6, 10-5 defeat while senior John Strikwerda fought valiently at three singles before going down 6-3, 7-6.
The Knights are now 3-4 on the season with a Friday match scheduled to be played against Lawrence of Wisconsin on Friday.
