Six members of the Calvin University men's golf team earned Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar honors as part of the Golf Coaches Association of America on Monday.
Dylan Clark (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian),
Ford Erickson (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian),
Jack Marzolino (Byron Center, Mich./Byron Center),
Josiah McClelland (Vicksburg, Mich./Vicksburg),
Ethan Tiller (Kalamazoo, Mich./Portage Central) and
Matt Turcotte (Grandville, Mich./Grandville) each received the award.
To be eligible for the honor, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their associate's degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, they must participate in 50% of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 79.0 in NCAA Division III, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at their college or university.
Earlier this summer, Turcotte was also named Academic All-District by the College Sports Communicators (CSC). Marzolino and Turcotte both earned the Cobalt Golf Scholar All-America award each of the last two years.
Marzolino and Turcotte also earned All-MIAA First Team honors this season, while Tiller was named All-MIAA Second Team.
Calvin won the MIAA championship in men's golf last season with an average team score of 294.0 per league round and earned its first trip to the NCAA III Men's Golf Championships since 2017, where the Knights finished in a tie for 23rd place.
