HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - The first day of the NCAA Division III Men's Golf National Championship was suspended due to storms that stopped play while the Calvin University men's golf team was on the course at El Campeon GC.
The Knights teed off early in the afternoon with half of the field teeing off in the morning and completing their rounds. The five Calvin players finished between 6-8 holes before play was suspended due to thunderstorms.
Play will be resumed on Wednesday (May 13) morning at 7:30 AM, where Calvin will finish their first round. Round two will start at the completion of the end of round one tomorrow.
Prior to the suspension of play, the Knights were 7-over par for their round as a team in a tie for 15th place.
Matt Turcotte (Grandville, Mich./Calvin Christian) leads the Knights at even par through six holes, followed by
Jack Marzolino (Byron Center, Mich./Byron Center) at 1-over par and
Ethan Tiller (Kalamazoo, Mich./Portage Central) at 2-over par.
Dylan Clark (Grand Rapids, MIch./Grand Rapids Christian) is at 4-over par through seven holes, while
Josiah McClelland (VIcksburg, Mich./Vicksburg) is at 5-over par.
