Calvin's Sydney Radigan Named USTFCCCA D3 National Outdoor Track Athlete of Year

Calvin graduate student Sydney Radigan has been named the Division III Women's Outdoor National Track Athlete of the Year by the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association.

The award concludes an impressive year of postseason honors for Radigan (Portland, Ore./St. Stephen's Academy).

This March, she was named the USTFCCCA Division III National Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Year and was also named the USTFCCCA Most Outstanding Track Performer of the NCAA III Indoor Championships as well as the NCAA III Indoor Great Lakes Region Women's Track Athlete of the Year.

This spring, she duplicated those same honors, receiving USTFCCCA Division III Most Outstanding Track Performer of the NCAA III Outdoor Track and Field Championships. She has also received USTFCCCA Division III Great Lakes Regional Track Athlete of the Year honors for outdoor track and field.

Radigan put together an incredible 2026 season of outdoor sprinting for the Calvin women's track and field. At the NCAA III Outdoor Track and Field Championships May 21-23, she captured national titles in the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash while anchoring Calvin's 400-meter relay team to a seventh place All-America finish.

Her efforts helped Calvin take fourth place in the final team standings, marking Calvin's first top-four national team finish in women's track and field since 2007. She set an NCAA III Championships record in the 200 meters with a time of 23.43. She set school records during the season in the 100-meter dash (11.40) and 200-meter dash (23.43) while also helping Calvin's 4x100 meter relay team set a new school record in a time of 46.29.

Radigan also helped power Calvin to an MIAA outdoor title in May as the Knights repeated as league champions. Radigan won the 100-meter dash (11.64) and 200-meter dash (23.68), setting new MIAA records in both events. She also anchored Calvin's first place 400 meter relay team to an MIAA-record time of 47.00. She was subsequently named the MIAA's Most Valuable Track Athlete for women's track and field while landing a spot on the All-MIAA First Team.

She was named MIAA Outdoor Athlete of the Week once this spring and also received USTFCCCA National M-F Athletic Athlete of the Week honors once as well.

Her outdoor performances came on the heels of an outstanding indoor track and field campaign.

At the NCAA III Indoor Track and Field Championships March 13 and 14, Radigan captured the national title in the 60-meter dash in a time of 7.52 and finished as the national runner-up in the 200 meters in 23.80. In the Friday prelims, she set school records in both races, clocking in at 7.50 in the 60-meter dash and 23.71 in the 200-meter dash. Her 200 meter time in the prelims was also a new NCAA Division III Indoor Record.

Her finishes helped the Calvin women's track and field team finish sixth in the final team standings, marking the highest indoor national team finish in program history.

At the MIAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in February, she captured MIAA titles in the 60-meter dash (7.57) and 200-meter dash (23.98), setting new MIAA Indoor records in the process. She helped Calvin capture its second straight MIAA Indoor Track & Field title as the Knights produced a team score of 220 points.

She was also named MIAA Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week once after she captured first place in the 200-meter dash (24.13) along with a third place finish in the 60 meter dash (7.61) at the GVSU Holiday Open on December 6. On February 14, she claimed first place in the 60-meter dash (7.57) at the GVSU Big Meet, competing in a field filled with Division I and Division II athletes.

In addition, she was later named to the All-MIAA Indoor Track and Field First Team for the first time in her collegiate career.

Radigan is the first individual in Calvin athletics history to receive National Athlete of the Year honors twice in the same academic year.
