JOLIET, Ill. – Members of the Calvin University women's track and field team competed on the second day of the Fighting Chance Invite hosted by University of St. Franics on Saturday.
The Knights opened the day with a new school record, as the 4x100 relay team of
Rayn Rutley (Fenton, Mich./Fenton),
Kaitlyn DiMaggio (Dearborn, Mich./Dearborn),
Alison Bailey (Petoskey, Mich./Petoskey) and
Sydney Radigan (Portland, Ore./St. Stephen's Academy) ran in a time of 46.91 to win the event and also move into 21st this outdoor season in NCAA III. The previous school record was set at last week's MIAA Outdoor Championships with a time of 47.0.
Radigan also led three of the four relay members in the 100 meters, taking first place with a time of 11.56. Rutley ran 12.34 in the prelims to set a new personal-best and move into fifth place on the Calvin all-time list. Bailey ran 12.52 in the prelims for a new personal-best, while
Audra Davids (Crown Pointe, Ind./Illiana Christian) finished in 13.08.
In the 400 hurdles,
Abby Lambers (Hudsonville, Mich./Hudsonville) ran a new PR in 1:03.53 that ranks in the top 50 in NCAA III and eighth on the all-time Calvin outdoor list.
Cadence Drougal (Rockford, Mich./Rockford) finished sixth in the finals of the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.07, followed by
Ava Sanchez-Mustapha (Okemos, Mich./Lansing Christian) in seventh with a time of 15.30.
RyAnn Rohrer (Ludington, Mich./Ludington) entered the day in the top 11 in NCAA III in both the shot put and discus and used the meet as a final tune-up before the NCAA III Championships. She had a top throw of 13.14 meters in the shot put (second place) and a top mark of 45.19 meters in the discus (fourth).
Alina Veltkamp (Lynden, Wash./Lynden Christian) took seventh in the long jump with a top mark of 5.15 meters. She also finished fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 10.87 meters, trailing the second-place jump from
Dasha Mason (Graham, Wash./Graham Kapowsin) of 11.04 meters.
NEXT UP: Calvin track and field will have members of the team competing next week at the last chance meet hosted by Augustana College on May 13-14.
