ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Calvin women's track and field had a record-setting relay performance Friday afternoon at the Augustana College Twilight Qualifier.
The Calvin 4x100 meter relay team of freshman
Rayn Rutley (Fenton, Mich./Fenton HS), senior
Mia DeJonge (Bellevue, Wash./Bellevue Christian HS), freshman
Alison Bailey (Petoskey, Mich./Petoskey HS) and graduate student
Sydney Radigan (Portland, Ore. /St. Stephen's Academy) clocked in with a time of 46.29, breaking the previous Calvin record of 46.91 set last weekend. The time ranks fifth on the NCAA III list and will book the quartet a spot at next week's NCAA III Outdoor Championships in LaCrosse, Wisconsin.
DeJonge, sophomore
Cadence Drougal (Rockford, Mich./Rockford HS) and freshman
Ava Sanchez-Mustapha (Okemos, Mich./Lansing Christian HS) competed in the 100 meter hurdles. DeJong qualified for the finals with a time of 14.56 as did Drougal in 14.74 while Sanchez-Mustapha ran 15.87. In the finals, DeJonge ran a career-best time of 14.38 that ranks 26
th on the NCAA III performance list and was good for fifth place. Drougal came in at 14.62 for eighth place.
In the 400 meter hurdles, freshman
Abby Lambers (Hudsonville, Mich./Unity Christian HS) took fifth in 1:03.49. Freshman
Kaitlyn DiMaggio (Dearborn, Mich./Dearborn HS) came in 12
th in the 100 meters in 12.52.
The field events opened on Wednesday night for Calvin with senior
Katie Seinen (Jenison, Mich./Unity Christian HS) taking ninth in 11-5.
Senior
Julienne Strydom had a strong day of jumping on Thursday, taking seventh in the long jump (18-1 ¾) and seventh in the triple jump (36-11 ½). Freshman
Dasha Mason (Graham, WA/Graham Kapowsin) had Calvin's top triple jump mark, taking fifth with a leap of 37-3 ¼. Â
