Three Calvin Women’s Tennis Players Named CSC Academic All-District

Three members of the Calvin University women's tennis team were named College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District on Tuesday.
 
Seniors Tessa Holman (Washington, Mich./Romeo) and Julia Hooker (East Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids) were joined by junior Sabrina Lopez (Steger, Ill./Illiana Christian) in winning the honor.
 
The three women were part of a Calvin women's tennis team that finished the season with a 10-8 record that included a 6-2 record in MIAA play. The Knights advanced to the MIAA Tournament Final and finished in a tie for second place in league play to end the regular season.
 
To receive CSC Academic All-District accolades, individuals needed to have maintained a cumulative 3.50 grade point average (GPA) or higher, completed two full semesters at the institution and appeared in 70 percent of the current season's games contests. 
 
Tessa Holman
 
Holman earned CSC Academic All-Distract honors for the third straight year as a senior. This year, Holman played out of both the second and third spots in the Calvin singles line-up and finished with a 9-7 record overall, including a 7-1 mark in MIAA play. She also went 9-8 in doubles, including a 6-1 record in league contests.
 
A senior nursing major with a career 3.65 GPA, Holman is a three-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll and seven-time Calvin Dean's List honoree.
 
Julia Hooker
 
Hooker won CSC Academic All-District recognition for the second straight season. Playing mainly in the bottom half of the line-up, Hooker proved crucial to the Knights' success with a 12-5 singles record that included a perfect 8-0 mark in league play. She also went 9-7 in doubles play overall and 6-1 in doubles during league play.
 
A senior nursing major with a 3.89 career GPA, Hooker is a three-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll and seven-time Calvin Dean's List honoree.
 
Sabrina Lopez
 
Lopez earned her first career CSC Academic All-District honor in her first season as a consistent member of the Calvin singles line-up. The junior provided tremendous depth in the order with a 13-4 record out of the fifth and sixth spots, including a perfect 8-0 mark in MIAA play. She also went 6-3 in doubles with a 4-1 conference record.
 
A junior nursing major with a 3.56 career GPA, Lopez is a one-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll and five-time Calvin Dean's List honoree.
