RESULTS

ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Calvin men's track and field team had an excellent day on the track and in the field at the GVSU Early Meet on Friday.

Sophomore Abe VanDuinen (Pentwater, Mich./Pentwater HS) highlighted the day by winning the 1500 meters in a personal-best time of 3:53.95 that ranks 15^th in Division III. Sophomore Vaughn Meyer (Dexter, Mich./Dexter HS) also had a big race in the 1500, placing fifth in a personal-best time of 3:57.95 that ranks 50^th nationally. Junior Pierce Bentley (Kalamazoo, Mich./Otsego HS) was 10^th in a personal-best time of 4:03.02.
In the 5,000 meters, sophomore Jack DeKruyter (Holland, Mich./Zeeland West HS) was 11^th in a personal-best time of 15:56.50 with sophomore Evan Spronk (Kentwood, Mich./South Christian HS) 15^th (16:36.56/personal-best) and junior Elijah Powell (Saranac, Mich./Saranac HS) 17^th (16:57.39).

Calvin went 4-6 in the steeplechase with junior Koda Brandt (Charlotte, Mich./Charlotte HS) fourth (10:31.92) and sophomore Caleb Drnek (Hudsonville, Mich./Covenant Christian HS) sixth (10:49.98).

The Knights went 8-9-10-11 in the 400 meter hurdles with senior Jonathan Holloway (Lawton, Mich./Lawton HS) eighth (58.01), freshman Tait Anible (Saranac, Mich./Saranac HS) ninth (58.95), junior Jarrett Febus (Hudsonville, Mich./Unity Christian HS) 10^th (59.43) and freshman Gavin Currie (Ada, Mich./Rockford HS) 11^th (59.66).

In the 800 meters, sophomore Jaydon Gritters (Hudsonville, Mich./Covenant Christian HS) was eighth in a personal-best time of 1:59.55 with freshman Jackson Meyers (Grand Haven, Mich./Allendale HS) 12^th (2:00.13) and freshman Jonas Church (Wabash, Ind./Wabash HS) 15^th (2:02.40). Sophomore Alexander Nelson (Snow Hill, Md./Snow Hill HS) was 11^th (51.87).

In the field events, Calvin went 2-2-6-8 in the javelin. Sophomore Lucas Jambekar (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich./Grosse Pointe North) was second with a huge personal-best throw of 158-2. Febus was sixth with a personal-best throw of 144-1 with senior Colin Jambekar eighth (139-8).

The Knights went 3-4-6-8 in the triple jump with junior Luke Nguyen (Houston, Tx./Carl Wunsche Sr. HS) third (42-11 ½) with freshman Sam Abdalla (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Northern HS) fourth (42-8 ¼), junior Aidan Veltkamp (Lynden, Wash./Lynden Christian HS) sixth (40-9 ½) and junior Connor Johnson (Kingsley, Mich./Kingsley HS) eighth (39-3 ¾).

Johnson was sixth in the long jump (21-2) and freshman Aven Kaat (Grandville, Mich./Grandville HS) 11^th (18-6 ½). In the high jump, sophomore Simon Vandenbroek (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) was fourth (6-4 ¼).

In the hammer throw, freshman Alex Lutgring (Battle Creek, Mich./Pennfield HS) had a big toss of 155-0 to place 10^th. Sophomore Carson Arnould (Hudsonville, Mich./Zeeland West HS) was 12^th (139-3) and freshman James McCoy (University City, Mo./Lutheran High School North) 13^th (138-11). McCoy was also 12^th in the shot put (43-8 ½). Arnould was ninth in the discus (145-6).
