Calvin Men's Track & Field Receives USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Calvin University men's track and field team secured both team and individual academic honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) following the 2025-26 season.
 
Calvin men's track and field was named a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team, while eight individuals were named USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes.

The Calvin men's track and field team finished the school year with a 3.38 team GPA. To be eligible for All-Academic Team honors, a team must have a 3.1 GPA or higher.
 
Named to the individual USTFCCCA All-Academic Team from Calvin are graduate student Koby VanderWoude, junior Zach Van Baren, sophomores Abe VanDuinen and Benjamin Habers and freshmen Sam Abdalla, Alex Lutgring, Zach Hartemink and Gabe Van Goor.

Vanderwoude is from Caledonia, Michigan. He is a graduate of Caledonia High School and has done his graduate work as an MBA student.

Van Baren is from Hudsonville, Michigan. He is a graduate of Covenant Christian High School. He is a double major in graphic design and business marketing and management.

VanDuinen is from Pentwater, Michigan. He is a graduate of Pentwater High School. He is a sociology major.

Habers is from Lake Ann, Michigan. He is graduate of Traverse City West High School. He is a kinesiology major.

Abdalla is from Grand Rapids, Michigan. He is a graduate of Grand Rapids Forest Hills Northern High School. He is an accounting major.

Lutgring is from Battle Creek, Michigan. He is a graduate of Battle Creek Pennfield High School. He is a business/finance major.

Van Goor is from White Lake, Michigan. He is graduate of Clarkston High School. He is a nursing major.

Hartemink is from Grand Rapids, Michigan. He is a graduate of Grand Rapids Christian High School. He is a mechanical engineering major.

To earn All-Academic Athlete honors, a student-athlete must have a 3.3 or higher grade point average (GPA) and meet one of the following athletic criteria:
  1. Must have finished the season among the top 50 individuals as listed on the descending order lists on TFRRS. In addition, any athletes not among the top 50, but who participated at the Indoor OR Outdoor National Championships, are eligible.
  2. Must have competed as a member of one of the top 35 relay teams as listed on the descending order list on TFRRS. In addition, any athletes not among the top 35 relay teams, but who participated in the relay at the Indoor OR Outdoor National Championships, are eligible. Finally, any competing relay team member on an expanded descending order list to include 35 institutions (1 relay team per institution) is eligible.
 
Led by head coach Adam Haldorson, the Calvin men's track and field team captured both the MIAA Indoor and MIAA Outdoor titles in 2026.
