Calvin's Charles Platt Named College Sports Communicators Academic All-American

Calvin senior Charles Platt has been named a College Sports Communicators Academic All-American ®.

A native of Downers Grove, Illinois, Platt has been named to the CSC Division III Academic All-America Second Team for men's swimming and diving.

A graduate of Downers Grove North High School, Platt is the third individual from Calvin to receive CSC Academic All-America honors this academic year with Matt Torrell (men's soccer) and Aerin Baker (women's volleyball) also receiving the award during the 2025-26 calendar.

Platt is a Calvin Dean's List student and a member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll. He is an accounting major at Calvin with plans to pursue his Master's in Accounting at Calvin next fall will also working to earn his CPA certification. This past summer, he interned at the ORBA/Citrin-Cooperman Accounting Firm in Chicago.

As a member of the Calvin men's swimming and diving team, Platt has put together a prolific career, earning All-America (either 1st or 2nd Team) 20 times during his four years as a Knight. He recently earned All-America honors seven times at the 2026 NCAA III Swimming and Diving Championships that included third place finishes in the 100 backstroke and 200 freestyle and a sixth place finish in the 100 freestyle.

He is a four-time NCAA III qualifier and a four-time All-MIAA selection. This February, he was named the MIAA's Most Valuable Swimmer. He was a seven-time MIAA event champion during his career and a six-time MIAA Swimmer of the Week.

He is the Calvin record holder in the 100 freestyle (43.15), 200 freestyle (1:36.00) and 100 backstroke (46.68).

Platt is the fourth individual in Calvin men's swimming and diving history to receive CSC Academic All-America honors with Brett Stoughton (2016 & 2017), Jake Heeres (2023) and Forrest Peterson (2023 & 2024) previously honored.

Platt's award gives Calvin 169 total CSC Academic All-America citations in the history of the award, which ranks ninth among all NCAA III schools.
