ALLENDALE, Mich. - Calvin came up with a strong set of performances on day two of the GVSU Al Owens Classic.

Vaughn Meyer (Dexter, Mich./Dexter HS) was a highlight on the track as he placed sixth in the 5,000 meters with a career-best time of 14:48.89. His time ranks 39
th in NCAA Division III this spring. Senior

th in a personal-best time of 15:20.87 with junior

In the 110 high hurdles, sophomore
Rhys Bedford (Delton, Mich./Delton-Kellogg HS) had a career-best time of 14.94 in the prelims with junior Zach VanBaren (Hudsonville, Mich./Covenant Christian HS) clocking in with a season-best time of 15.07 in the prelims. In the finals, Bedford was sixth (15.04) and VanBaren seventh (15.10).

Jonathan Holloway (Lawton, Mich./Lawton HS) was 11
th in the 400 meter hurdles with a career-best time of 56.93. Sophomore

Calvin had a strong effort in the 4x100 meter relay as the team of sophomore Alex Van Sweden (Vicksburg, Mich./Vicksburg HS), VanderWoude, Habers and Lubberts took seventh in a season-best time of 42.48. It's top 4x400 meter relay team of VanderWoude, Habers, Nelson and Holloway took fourth in 3:23.91.
In the field events on Saturday, freshman
Alex Lutgring (Battle Creek, Mich./Pennfield HS) was eighth in a career-best throw of 154-0 that ranks 38
th in Division III this spring. Sophomore

Calvin will now break until next week with a select group of athletes competing at the Brian Clay Invitational in California next Thursday and Friday while others will compete next Saturday in the Calvin Invitational located inside the Gainey Athletic Complex.
