ALLENDALE, Mich. – Calvin opened competition at the GVSU Al Owens Classic by competing in a handful of field events Friday afternoon.
In the hammer throw, sophomore
Carson Arnould (Hudsonville, Mich./Zeeland West HS) took 10
th (157-0) with freshman
Alex Lutgring (Battle Creek, Mich./Pennfield HS) 12
th (142-0).
Sophomore
Lucas Jambekar (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich./Grosse Pointe North) continued his strong spring with a third place performance in the javelin (154-8).
Highlighting the day for the Knights was the performance of its triple jumpers. Junior
Luke Nguyen (Houston, Tx./Carl Wunsche Sr.) led the way by placing third (45-6 ½) with a leap that ranks 42
nd in Division III this spring. Freshman
Alex Guidry (Houston, Tx./Houston Cypress HS) was fifth (43-9 ¾), junior
Connor Johnson (Kingsley, Mich./Kingsley HS) ninth (40-11 ½) and junior
Aidan Veltkamp (Lynden, Wash./Lynden Christian HS) 10
th (38-10 ½).
Calvin returns to action on Saturday when the meet continues with action at 11 a.m.
